PROS – Lets start out with the cheap $65 smoker. I have actually bought this one and I liked it. It could cook everything I wanted and I had no problems.
CONS – The serious barbecuer (I am not) will find it takes either modification or lots of work to hold a good temp for a long time.
Recommendation – Only get this if you plan to do your basic quick cooks, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks.
Char Broil Silver Smoker
Price – $199.99
PROS – This is the grill my father in law has. He is a serious griller. He cooks brisket, chicken and everything else on this grill. Considering everything, it is a reasonable price.
CONS – The metal isn’t very thick. This makes retaining heat difficult. However, if you want better expect to pay two to three times the price.
Recommendation – This is good for anyone looking for a deal.
Char Broil Judge Charcoal Grill
Price – $134.99
PROS – First, I want to point out that neither I or anyone I know have used this grill. That being said, the consensus from reviews I read is it is worth the money for anyone that likes wood/ charcoal cooking.
CONS – Again, I have read some reviews that it did not “fit” together right. This tells me that either a) you may get a defect model or b) that the instructions are not that clear. My guess is b.

Weber 741001 22.5-Inch One-Touch Silver Kettle Grill, Black
Price – $87.89
This grill was recommended by Food Network Host Alton Brown and Amazon gives it a pretty high ranking.
PROS – The price makes this an affordable kettle grill that many people simply love. I have had family members swear by the grill even though the handles got hot. This however has been fixed by replacing the plastic handles with wood handles.
CONS – The major complaint comes from the ash catcher. Apparently, if you have some wind it may not catch the ash right.
Recommendation – This is a good grill for the price. You can cook anything on it and with a minor modification of the ash catcher, you will have no problems.
Weber 1421001 Performer Charcoal Grill, Black
This is one heavy grill. It comes in at a whopping 91 pounds. This may make it sturdy but it also makes it hard to move when delivered. My recommendation is move it with a friend.
Price – $329
PROS – This grill can handle anything you throw at it. It can even handle smoking a turkey.Design wise, this should last you a good 10 years.
CONS – It has a propane ignition and this bothers some people. Additionally, even the people who like it say that it has a tendency to scratch easily. Therefore, if you worry about appearances, this may not be the best choice.
Recommendation – If you are looking for a powerful grill that will last you years and years, then this is for you. If you want a cheap grill to use for occasional grilling, then definitely find something else. This is for the serious grillers only.
